Known stumbling blocks in the introduction of CAFM:

When complexity prevents an overview and what added value a CAFM solution offers

What is CAFM?

CAFM (Computer Aided Facility Management) is the process-oriented and user-friendly support of facility management processes - in accordance with GEFMA Guideline 100, among others.

CAFM software supports users in the structured handling of their tasks and can be flexibly adapted to individual processes, operator concepts and organizational structures.

Why many FM processes reach their limits

Many organizations looking for a CAFM system or CAFM software for facility management face recurring problems: The number of buildings, technical facilities, maintenance and service providers is growing - while processes are confusing, media disruptions are commonplace and information is spread across several systems.

A well-known stumbling block in CAFM projects is the lack of a central data hub. In many organizations, different individual solutions for maintenance management, document management, tenders or ERP systems have developed over the years. Employees and external facility management service providers often work in different applications or in parallel with analog and digital systems.

The result? Multiple maintenance, loss of time and a lack of transparency for important tasks. Especially in maintenance and testing processes, this leads to zadditional coordination effort and delays. Without a central platform can the overview of tasks, responsibilities and current information missing, which limits the efficiency of facility management processes.

Practical example: BLB NRW

This is exactly where pitFM comes in, bringing together all relevant facility management processes in an integrated workflow. A practical example of this is the Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb NRW (BLB NRW). As one of the largest real estate operators in the public sector, BLB NRW is responsible for over 4,000 buildings, around 48,000 technical systems and more than 50,000 maintenance and inspection orders per year.

For many years, different software solutions were used, which meant that data was redundant and processes could not be mapped digitally across the board. In particular, the collaboration with a large number of external facility management service providers led to media disruptions and a lack of transparency.

To overcome these stumbling blocks, BLB NRW decided to introduce a CAFM system as a central platform for building management. With pitFM CAFM-Solution etablized, the relevant facility managementprocesses - from master data management and maintenance management through to service provider management - in an end-to-end digital workflow. The Users and external service providers access now access to the same information without media discontinuity, in compliance with more accurate IT and security requirements.

The solution: pitFM as a central CAFM platform

This practical example shows the added value that a solution-oriented and sustainable CAFM system can offer: With pitFM you get an end-to-end CAFM solution for intelligent, digital facility management that adapts precisely to your role, your tasks and your daily requirements.
Whether you are an employee managing buildings and systems, planning maintenance or controlling external service providers - pitFM offers the right interface: pitFM Expert for complex tasks, pitFM Smart for standard processes and pitFM 2GO for mobile applications. Thanks to the shared data model, everyone involved works on the basis of the same information. This ensures maximum transparency, less duplication of work and significantly greater efficiency in facility management.
