SOLAR-COMPUTER develops and distributes calculation programs for building and system planning in the fields of building physics, heating, sanitation, air conditioning, ventilation, energy and efficiency.
Users are specialist engineers, technicians, architects and planning offices.
The software has a modular structure and consists of around 25 individual programs that can be combined with each other on a project-specific basis. It also supports integration into BIM processes.
From Windows 10 onwards, the software can be installed on PCs, in networks or on servers. The programs can be used either for a limited or unlimited period of time.
The license structure is flexible and fair. Users can put together a software package as required from around 25 available programs. The license costs are based on the programs used simultaneously, regardless of the number of workstations.
The software simplifies project management by combining all data and results of the programs used in a project in a central project directory. There are user-friendly dialogs for editing global project data such as client, address and comments.
SOLAR-COMPUTER enables the documentation of project progress with dates and notes. Documents such as scanned acceptance reports can also be integrated into the project directory. A special function is the creation of archive projects, which contain all versions of used manufacturer data records.
The data link between Revit and the calculation modules is used intensively to calculate planning variants and verify economic efficiency.
SOLAR-COMPUTER supports three working methods: stand-alone, connected and integrated. The decision always lies with the user on a project-specific basis.
When working autonomously, the user is independent of CAD systems or BIM platforms. Calculation-relevant project data can be recorded, edited and documented quickly and easily in tabular or graphical form.
In the connected mode of operation, the user establishes a connection between drawings/models and the SOLAR-COMPUTER calculations. This enables a direct data connection between the 3D CAD building model and SOLAR-COMPUTER calculation programs.

The integrated mode of operation goes beyond the connected mode of operation and offers the best possibilities for efficient BIM planning. Calculation-relevant object data, boundary conditions and results are managed completely and synchronously in the CAD and SOLAR-COMPUTER software databases.

The interface between SOLAR-COMPUTER and pitCAD Ultimate enables seamless integration of the SOLAR-COMPUTER calculation software into the CAD/BIM planning tool pitCAD Ultimate. Among other things, this integration supports the heating and cooling load calculation as well as the calculation of the energy efficiency of a building in accordance with the requirements of the Building Energy Act (GEG). The existing building and surface data is processed in pitCAD Ultimate to create standardized building master data for energy analysis and evaluation. This data can then be transferred via the integrated SOLAR-COMPUTER interface in order to carry out a detailed energy assessment of the building.
