to a climate-neutral building
The amendment to the Building Energy Act (GEG) places certain requirements on energy requirement certificates for buildings. The obligation to prove and document CO2 emissions presents owners and building users with new challenges. pitCAD Ultimate, in combination with the SOLAR-COMPUTER calculation tools, provides a software solution package that specifically addresses this task.
Germany has set itself the goal of being the first country in the EU to be climate-neutral by 2045. The real estate sector can make a significant contribution to this. After all, 40% of global CO2 emissions are caused by buildings. Almost 70% of this is attributable to the management phase. Looking at the building stock in Germany, the figures are sobering. Over 80% of the existing buildings were constructed before 1995. And more than 2/3 of these buildings are in need of refurbishment.
The Building Energy Act (GEG) provides a clear framework/guidelines on how to deal with existing buildings in particular in order to achieve climate neutrality in Germany by 2045.
With the right data, e.g. from CAD/BIM and suitable software tools, it is quite easy to analyze the energy performance of existing buildings. Optimization potentials are made transparent and various energy-related refurbishment measures can be planned and compared.

The required CAD/BIM basic data is integrated and prepared in pitCAD Ultimate. Ideally, digital 2D/3D CAD/BIM models are available for this purpose, which are prepared in pitCAD Ultimate for further processing. If the as-built plans are only available in analog form (paper plans), they can be scanned and then made “intelligent” in pitCAD Ultimate in just a few steps. If point clouds of the buildings were recorded as part of an as-built data acquisition using laser scanning, these can also be imported and processed in pitCAD Ultimate. With just a few mouse clicks, an intelligent BIM model is created from a point cloud, which is then transferred to SOLAR-COMPUTER via the integrated interface.
“With pitCAD Ultimate, we are taking CAD/BIM planning to a new level. Thanks to the integrated CAD core and the modular structure, pitCAD Ultimate is the all-in-one CAD/BIM solution. Whether for structural engineering, building services engineering or for the digitization of existing buildings with Scan2BIM, up to the integration of BIM models into our CAFM solution pitFM.”

SOLAR-COMPUTER uses the transmitted CAD/BIM data to analyze the energy efficiency of the building. The building stock is analyzed and various refurbishment measures can be planned and compared. The verification of energy efficiency in accordance with GEG/DIN V 18599 is firmly anchored in the SOLAR-COMPUTER calculation tools. This includes the creation of energy performance certificates and detailed energy reports as well as the automated preparation of an individual refurbishment roadmap to supplement the energy performance certificate.
The SOLAR-COMPUTER calculation programs can be used not only to renovate existing buildings for energy efficiency. The verification for new buildings with regard to the balancing of primary energy demand and greenhouse gas potentials for the respective life cycle phases of the building according to QNG is also supported (life cycle assessment verification for the “Plus” and “Premium” seal variants).
“We are particularly proud of the fact that our calculation programs meet the high quality assurance requirements of DIN V 18599. The 18599 Quality Assurance Association is a quality assurance system for the uniform and reliable design and implementation of calculation programs for DIN V 18599. With the quality seal, we can give our users the assurance that the calculations carried out with our software tools always meet the requirements of DIN V 18599. And since 2023, we have also met the requirements for a quality-assured QNG calculation (life cycle assessment according to QNG).
